Destiny 2: Thunderlord is back for players who completed the Murder of Master Ives questline

By Stephany Nunneley, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 22:10 GMT

The Exotic machine gun Thunderlord is back in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2 players who enjoyed using the Thunderlord Exotic machine gun in Destiny 1 will be pleased to know it has made a return.

Rumors of the gun coming back to the game surfaced earlier this month, and of course, proved to be true.

Destiny 2 players who completed the final phase of the Murder of Master Ives questline will receive the weapons as a reward.

The quest kicked off during the Festival of the Lost event with the quest Journal of the Reef Cryptarch. In order to claim their prize, players will need to go to the Cosmodrome in Old Russia and fight waves of enemies and the Fallen boss.

How do you get it? Beat all of the aforementioned baddies, earn the Exotic Engram from the murdered Master Ives, and decrypt it into Thunderlord. Pretty simple.

As Arekkz notes in his video, perks for the machine gun is stronger this time out and lightning still plays a part. The intrinsic perk Rein Havoc will generate lightning strikes from above. Its trait, Lightning Rounds, sees the weapon fire faster and more accurately the longer the trigger is held down with continuous damage generating lighting strikes.

Kills with the weapon also increase reload time for a short while.

When Black Armory arrives in December, more machine guns will make it into the game.

Report: Former Treyarch QA leaks huge amount of Black Ops 4 Zombies info after getting fired

By Shabana Arif, Monday, 12 November 2018 23:14 GMT

Former Treyarch QA spills the beans on Black Ops 4 Zombies Easter eggs and further plans for the game.

A Redditor claiming to be a former Treyarch QA has leaked a ton of information about Black Ops 4 Zombies after stating that they were unfairly dismissed from the studio over a “blatant miscommunicatuon [sic] and mismanagement” regarding a lunch break, of all things.

The disgruntled user, CallOfNobodyCares, took to Reddit for an AMA post entitled “Fired from 3Arc Zombies EE team today – Ask me anything!” although the account seems to have been deleted since.

While their identity can’t be verified, the information they’ve shared so far in regards to Easter eggs has been accurate, from the Viking Boat EE on IX to the Samatha “Crooked Man in a Crooked House” Easter egg, so make of that what you will.

Redditor Oswin-Pond shared a Glassdoor link in a thread keeping track of everything the leaker has spilled so far to demonstrate the mistreatment of other QAs at the company, and CallOfNobodyCares has posted about their firing over there as well.

“They fired me because they decided to retroactively change my lunch break time after I had already went on my lunch break,” reads the Glassdoor review that highlights the discrepancy in how “QA level one” and “level two” employees are treated, adding that “They don’t care how much you care for the game and your job, you are a worker ant and disposable piece of trash to them.”

Under the Advice to Management section, they’ve written, “Give me my job back and they’ll be no hard feelings. You literally pushed our lunch break back twice, retroactively.

“How can it possibly be my fault if I took my lunch break at the time I was told to and then afterwards you decided to push it back again. Come on now, this was your blatant miscommunicatuon [sic] and mismanagement of time. I was literally the #1 hardest working employee as proven by my performance. You broke my heart.”

The review was posted on November 9, with the AMA going up on November 10.

A collection of screenshots of all of CallOfNobodyCares’ Reddit comments were posted on imgur, in which they say that they slept in their car for two years in order to work at Treyarch.

Outside of the in-game leaks about Easter eggs, here’s the round-up from Reddit of the other tidbits that were shared, courtesy of CadzTrikz:

  • DLC 1 is a prequel to the Chaos storyline and will introduce four new characters
  • Nuketown Zombies is definitely happening but doesn’t have a confirmed date
  • Each DLC pack will have one Zombies Map
  • More maps are coming that will follow the Aether Storyline
  • A 4v4 Zombies mode is in the works, but there’s a chance that it might be cancelled
  • Speed Cola is making a comeback in the next title update (tu6). When players have the four main Vapors equipped, it’ll be equipped automatically as a bonus in-game Vapor. It can deactivate and reactivate.

We’ll have to see if Treyarch has anything to say about all of this, but based on the accuracy of the leaks so far, the community is convinced that the QA’s story holds water.

Spyro Reignited Trilogy day one update is 19 GB

By Shabana Arif, Tuesday, 13 November 2018 00:19 GMT

Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon are a 19 GB day one download.

Earlier this year it was confirmed that Spyro Reignited Trilogy will only include Spyro the Dragon on the disc, with players needing to download Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon. A player on ResetEra got their hands on their PS4 copy early, and it turns out that after the day one patch weighs in at 19 GB, ending up with a total file size of 67.5GB, despite sitting at 31.5 GB before the patch.

This is in line with the Xbox One’s 36.32 GB which we saw in August.

Another player who got their hands on their copy early too has confirmed that you won’t be able to play Spyro 2: Ripto’s Rage!, and Spyro: Year of the Dragon without having the disc inserted into your console.

The game was initially set for a September release but was pushed back to November 13 so that the studio could lavish “more love and care” on it.

You can pick up Spyro Reignited Trilogy for PS4 and Xbox One tomorrow.

Battlefield 1 players hold a cease fire on Armistice Day to commemorate the end of WW1

By Shabana Arif, Sunday, 11 November 2018 21:04 GMT

In an effort to acknowledge Armistice Day, Battlefield 1 players stopped shooting each other for a brief moment of peace.

Battlefield 1 players attempted to hold a cease fire to commemorate Armistice Day, but as you might have guessed, some bugger decided to piss all over the idea before very long.

The gameplay video was posted over on Reddit. “This is the 100 year anniversary of the end of WW1. On the 11th hour we stopped fighting,” read the post.

Jan David Hassel, technical designer at DICE, shared the clip on his Twitter account and you can take a look at it below.

Of course, it didn’t go smoothly – best laid plans and all that. Someone in a plane shot at the players that had gathered on the beach to participate, and the person recording the gameplay got a knife in the back for their trouble, but it was nice while it lasted.

While some commenters applauded the effort, others weren’t quite so impressed.

“OMG OMG he is killing people in a game. What an ass,” said one.

“Nice gesture… but a bit tacky to be playing it on Armistice day at all,” said another.

On a more positive note, Backstabby McGee did apologise for murdering the OP, so that was nice. Thanks, Eurogamer!

For those of you ready to move on Battlefield 1, Battlefield 5 is almost upon us and you can check out the launch trailer right here and you can peruse all of the scores in our review round-up.

Destiny 2 director says Bungie isn’t “disappointed” with Forsaken’s sales

By Shabana Arif, Sunday, 11 November 2018 22:35 GMT

Luke Smith says Bungie loves the Forsaken expansion as Activision states the DLC has under-performed.

Following Activision’s Q3 2018 report that saw COO Coddy Johnson state that Destiny 2’s Forsaken expansion sales failed to meet the company’s expectations, game director Luke Smith is reassuring fans that Bungie won’t be changing up the formula to appeal to the masses in an attempt to draw in more players.

“We are not disappointed with Forsaken. We set out to build a game that Destiny players would love, and at Bungie, we love it too,” Smith tweeted. “Building Destiny for players who love it is and will remain our focus going forward.”

During last week’s earnings call, Activision COO Coddy Johnson said that, “While Forsaken is a high-quality expansion with strong engagement and new modes of play, it did not achieve [Activision’s] commercial expectations. There’s still work to do to fully reengage the core Destiny fan base.”

Company CFO Spencer Neumann added that Activision is “working to accelerate the pace of live operations innovation and improve the speed with which [it] releases new content to keep…players engaged and to provide new opportunities for monetization.”

The expansion brought about a number of changes to the game, including the removal of Prestige Nightfalls, Heroic strikes, as well as upgraded matchmaking and Guided Games experiences.

Bungie even implemented a Refer-a-Friend program, giving veteran players the chance to earn rewards while helping out their fresh fish friends.

What’s more, PC players have been given the chance to download the game for free right now, up until November 18.

Activision and Bungie are pulling out all the stops to draw players in again, with Coddy telling Variety that despite Forsaken’s quality, people are hesitant to shell out for the base game.

“Forsaken is a high-quality expansion of content into the universe. Honestly, it’s the highest-quality content we’ve seen in the franchise to date. It really came out of Activision and Bungie working together to address community concerns post-‘Destiny 2’ holistically,” he explained.

“Talking to players, we knew it came from users really doing a fundamental review of how to offer a deeper end-game, greater powers and greater rewards, and engage players who seemed to be really enjoying the content. In particular, it was very well received both by reviewers and by the community, and has ongoing deepening engagement by those that are playing it.”

Fortnite’s Blitz LTM has been replaced with Disco Domination

By Stephany Nunneley, Friday, 9 November 2018 19:55 GMT

Fortnite Blitz LTM has been taken out of the game and replaced with Disco Domination.

Epic Games announced on Twitter earlier it has replaced Blitz LTM in Fortnite with Disco Domination.  It was live in the game for only three days.

Blitz is a frantic, loot-filled 15 minute LTM that was added earlier this week with the Fortnite V6.22 update. The match begins with the storm moving towards the island and the delay between each circle is shorter than normal.

Disco Domination is a 50 vs 50 mode that spawns five dance floors on the map. Players then have to capture the dance floors by clearing out enemies and dancing to raise a disco ball.
You can find the full set of rules for Disco Domination LTM here, but we’ve also posted them below for convenience.

Disco Domination rules:

  • Two teams of fifty players.
  • Respawning will be turned on until the third (last) storm circle.
  • Five dance floors will appear on the map whenever the storm is not moving.
  • Emoting on a dance floor when no enemies are present will raise a disco ball in the center of the floor, and capture it for your team.
  • The more friendly players dancing on a floor, the faster it will be captured.
  • Once a floor is captured, it will begin filling the team’s “dance bar” on the HUD, until either an enemy stands on it or the current storm timer ends and the storm begins to move. The first team to fill their dance bar to 100% will win the match.
  • The dance floors in the later stages of the match fill the bar more quickly, so don’t give up if your team is behind!
  • It is not possible to build on or over the dance floors, but they can be protected by surrounding them with a fort.
  • Glider redeploy is activated in this mode, press jump while falling to use your glider.
  • This mode uses 50v50 levels of loot and resources.

You can look over the V6.22 patch notes through the link up top. If you need help this week with challenges, here’s the week 7 challenges for Fortnite Season 6.

You will find links to all previous weekly challenges for the current season through there as well.

By Stephany Nunneley, Friday, 9 November 2018 20:35 GMT

Destiny 2’s Xur is back and if you don’t have what he’s packing already, you might want to take a look in his bag.

Xur has returned to Destiny 2, and you can find the fella on Io at Giant’s Scar hanging out in the usual cave.

This week’s exotics include Hunter Chest Armor, an Exotic Grenade Launcher, as well as Titan and Warlock Gauntlets.

Be sure to grab what you want before the reset hits Tuesday, November 13.

And just as a reminder, in case you don’t own the Forsaken expansion, the Gambit Free Trial weekend is in effect. All Destiny 2 player have until Sunday, November 11 at 9am PST, 12pm EST, 5pm UK to take part.

Don’t forget: PC players users can download Destiny 2 for free through November 18 and keep it forever.

Xur

Xur inventory for November 9-12

None of the items Xur is peddling this week are new, especially The Prospector. It’s a rather sharp looking  though, and fires Arc grenades.

It features the intrinsic perk Excavation which allows you to control when to detonate the grenades it fires. You hold the button to shoot them, and release to detonate them all.

The Prospector has an increased blast radius thanks to Volatile Launch, and sports a big magazine. It also features a full auto trigger system, allowing you to hold down the trigger to fire it in full. Overall, it’s a pretty decent grenade launcher.
